Women go wild for stylish, sexy high heels, so what better way to drum up support for a pink ribbon cause than throw a “Stiletto Strut”! All ladies who love their Louboutins, are mad for Manolos, and go “ga ga” about Gucci are invited to don their favorite stilettos for a short and sassy “walk with a purpose” on Saturday, April 18. Honorary chairs Judy Smith and Sue Smith have lined up a silent auction for a coveted Neiman Marcus shoe wardrobe. Proceeds benefit the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine and donations will be matched.

Out and About ...
Nothing gets winter-weary Ladies Who Lunch more excited than a chance to check out the latest spring fashions. That ’s why so many upcoming fundraisers feature style shows. Many times the best show isn ’t on the runway—it’s in the audience, where perfectly coiffed, expertly made up and expensively dressed socialites often outdo the professional models. After all, what ’s the point of buying something new if you don’t have a place to show it off? It’s a chance to look good while you feel good helping out a worthwhile cause.

Fashionistas…put this date on your calendar: April 2 at the Hotel ZaZa for the aptly named Passion for Fashion Luncheon for the Houston Community College Foundation. The Chronicle’s Clifford Pugh will be interviewing designer Cesar Galindo, who will present some of his fall designs. Funds from this first-time event will benefit HCC ’s renowned fashion and interior design programs headed by Kay King. Julia Frankel is chairing, and Leisa Holland Nelson and Bill Englund are co-chairing.

More fashion forward events…
Cancer Fighters of Houston’s Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show on April 28 at Lakeside Country Club with emcee Dave Ward. Call 713-461-5226 for reservations… Dressing to the Nines on April 8 features a Neiman Marcus fashion show to benefit Taping for The Blind, and honoring Randy de La Garza for her leadership… Couture: Theatre of Fashion is the theme of this year’s Reflections on Style Boutique and Runway Show honoring Rose Cullen. Danielle Ellis chairs this terrific event, featuring “recycled” designer clothes, which are modeled and then sold at the “Chic Boutique.” And for those bargain hunters who can’t make it to the Chic Boutique, there’s always the “After Show Sale” April 16-18 at 1121-11 Uptown Park Blvd. (near Champs). All funds benefit the Salvation Army Women ’s Auxiliary.

The dress code for the April 3 Children at Risk fundraiser chaired by Carolyn Farb reads: “Touch of Plaid, Kilt or Cocktail Attire.” All this is in honor of Scottish born comedian and CBS Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson who brings his
offbeat brand of humor to our city to guest star at “Stand Up for Houston’s Children” benefiting Children at Risk, an organization that attempts to stop child trafficking. Call 713-869-7740 for more information.

Grammy, Tony, Oscar and Emmy winning performer Rita Moreno has been inked as the featured speaker for the May 4 Go Red for Women Luncheon, benefiting the American Heart Association. Event chair Ilene Allen says the multi-talented Moreno speaks passionately and personally about heart disease —the leading cause of death for women.
