Brenda Werner and Susie Meischen chaired the Houston Junior Woman’s Club’s Holiday Happening, which featured Barbara Bush receiving the 2009 Helping Hands and Caring Hearts Award.

(7) Symphony Ball Kick Off
Kelli and Martin Fein at the kick off for the March 27 Symphony Ball “Music Matters! What a Wonderful World.” The ball honors Aileen B. Gordon and Cora Sue Mach for their support.

(8) Junior League Award
Holcombe Crosswell poses with his wife, Emily Attwell Crosswell, recipient of the Adelaide Lovett Baker Award. The award is bestowed upon a Junior League Sustaining member who is an outstanding volunteer in the Houston community.

(9) Partnership Fiesta
Dressed in the colors of the holiday season, Jan McMillan and Connie Haddox attended the “Partnership Fiesta” along with 200 other friends and fans of Baylor College of Medicine.

(10) Trees of Hope Gala
Hope Tree chairs Stef Levy and Carrie Ross whipped up holiday magic at the Trees of Hope Gala where more than 500 guests raised over $760,000 for the Star of Hope Mission.

(11) Teen Health Supporters
Virgil and June Waggoner at the Teen Health Foundation luncheon. The Waggoners presented an award to Dr. Guy Clifton for his support of the Teen Health Clinics.



(12) 58th Consular Ball
An authentic Spanish soiree in honor of the Kingdom of Spain drew 680 guests to the 58th Consular Ball for Houston ’s Consular Corps. From left, His Excellency Miguel Angel de Mazarambroz, Andrea White and Sherman Yeager.
(13) The Women’s Fund
Kathi Rovere, Helen Shaffer and Ann Bullock at The Women’s Fund for Health Education & Research’s 30th anniversary luncheon. Author Louise Parsley was guest speaker at the event honoring founder Jacqueline Goettsche.

(14) Play It Again Sam
Nijad and Zeina Fares opened their River Oaks estate, which fronts Buffalo Bayou, for a Moroccan-themed fundraiser for the Bayou Preservation Association. The event was chaired by Cecily and Rick Burleson, and Meredith and Fielding Cocke.

(15) Women of Courage
On March 7, Hadassah will honor Dress for Success co-founder and executive director Nancy Levicki along with Renee Suchowiecky, founder of the NKS Foundation in her late daughter ’s
memory, as Women of Courage for their important contributions to the community.

(16) Havana Nights
Amanda Crump and Cheryl Boblitt were pretty in pink at the “Havana Nights” gala that brought in $550,000 for Covenant House Houston. At one point, 45 guests donated $3,000 each to help at-risk teens.

(17) Va-Va-Voom!
Kasi Kubiak was in fine-feathered form at the BASH for United Cerebral Palsy, which featured some of the most creative costumes seen at any of this year ’s Halloween parties.
