The Barry Sea Paradox In Concert
Barry and Barbara (Bobbie) Sea (Siegel) are appearing with their group, The
Barry Sea Paradox, every Thursday and Saturday at two Post Oak Grill locations.
One of Texas
’ hottest groups, The Barry Sea Paradox has a hit CD that is played often on
KTSU-FM, KPVU-FM and Ronnie Renfrow
’s Classic Cool radio show on 650 AM. They’ve appeared at many of Texas’ finest clubs playing music they describe as “Smooth Jazz with a Rough Edge Called Soul.” It includes a wide variety of jazz, R&B, oldies, swing and even some country. It’s ideal for dancing, or you can just sit back, listen, and enjoy. The group has
appeared on Hometown Live on ABC affiliate Channel 13, Great Day Houston on CBS
affiliate Channel 11, and Fox Rocks on Channel 26. Performances are held on
Thursdays, 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Post Oak Grill Cafe (Midtown), 3017 Milam (just
north of Elgin); and Saturdays, 8 p.m.-midnight, Post Oak Grill, 1415 S. Post

The Threads of time quilt show
The West Houston Quilter’s Guild will host The Threads of Time Quilt Show on Feb. 20-21 at the Leonard
Merrell Center in Katy. Show hours on Friday are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 9 a.m.-4
p.m. on Saturday.
Cost is $6; seniors 65+ $5.
This judged quilt show will feature 200 quilts, various vendors, lunch room,
door prizes, donation quilt, tin can raffle and quilt appraisal. A portion of
proceeds will benefit Katy Christian Ministries

West University Festival
of New Homes
Six West University builders will showcase a spectacular line up of dream come
true homes for the 6th annual West University Festival of New Homes set for
Feb. 21, Feb. 22, Feb. 28 and March 1.
Priced from $1.3 million, these homes offer the finest level of craftsmanship
and design in one of Houston
’s most sought after neighborhoods. West U was named one of the top urban

watermarks, feb. 3-27
The Watermarks exhibition will be on display Feb. 3-27 at the Jung Gallery. This
exhibit features watercolor artists Caroile Allgood, Anne Kinder, Jacki
McCreary and Barbara Vaughan who derive their inspiration and place their marks
on paper with their own unique and individual vision.
Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. -8 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Fridays;
and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Presidential Park & Gardens
The Presidential Park & Gardens at WaterLights in Pearland is the only presidential park in the nation
of its kind. Located only 15 minutes from downtown Houston, it will feature 44
larger-than-life statutes of all the United States presidents in a pristine
garden setting. The historic multi-million dollar park is located in a
beautiful, wooded setting on the southern border of the WaterLights district.
Currently, all of the presidents are completed, many are already installed on
the site, with the Barak Obama sculpture just completed in time for the
inauguration.
The presidential sculptures—all at least 18 feet in size—are the creation of internationally acclaimed artist David Adickes.
The grand opening for Presidential Park & Gardens is scheduled for September 2009. Once the park is completed and the
WaterLights district opens, the city of Pearland estimates that the park will
initially attract over 2 million visitors annually.
love vibe exhibit, feb. 6-28
Celebrate the month of love at the Green House Gallery with Love Vibe, the
gallery
’s first themed exhibition of 2009, which will run from Feb. 6-28.
This new body of artwork, which explores the different faces of love, will be
introduced at a reception on Feb. 6 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
The artists present their interpretations of love with an array of riveting new
artwork, ranging from beautiful figurative watercolors to exuberant abstracts,
digital collage, ceramics, and metal sculpture.
The gallery is open from 11 a.m-6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, and by
appointment.
arthur Szyk’s One-Man Army at Holocaust Museum Houston,
through feb. 8
Cartoonist Arthur Szyk, a native of Lodz, Poland, believed his art could make a difference in the world, and, as such, became one of the 20th century’s most important political propagandists. His work is the focus of a new exhibit
A One-Man Army: The Art of Arthur Szyk, in the Mincberg Gallery at the
Holocaust Museum Houston
’s Morgan Family Center, 5401 Caroline St. The exhibit will remain on view
through Feb. 8. Admission is free.
This exhibit will highlight the private collection of Gregg and Michelle
Philipson of Austin and will include loans of important works from the U.S.
Holocaust Memorial Museum and the United States Naval Academy Museum.
Throughout his career, Szyk produced illustrated books, illuminated
manuscripts, commercial art and posters, stamps for humanitarian causes and
political cartoons that appeared on the covers of many important magazines
during World War II.

design squad wonderweek at children’s museum, Feb. 17-25
Invent, design, build, create, make! Come on over and find out a little bit more
about the job of an engineer, artist and designer at the Children
’s Museum during Design Squad WonderWeek from
Feb. 17-25.
Interesting exhibits include: Using different blocks to build a structure and
record it on a piece of paper; transform a regular toy car into a wind powered
machine; invent wild and wacky devices that move with the wind; and get a crash
course on the physics.

upcoming exhibitions at the museum of printing history
Illustrated Fine Printing: The Whittington Press, Matrix & America exhibition will run at the Museum of Printing History through April 25.
This exhibit explores the relationship between the influential journal Matrix
and contributing printers/writers from the U.S.
A reception and gallery talk with Barbara Henry will be held on March 13 at 6

The Vandercook Book exhibition will be on display Jan. 29-March 21 to celebrate
the Vandercook
