22nd annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, feb. 28
The 22nd Annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, which includes a 10K race and 5K fun
run/walk, will take place on Feb. 28.
The event raises scholarship funds for Texas youth and will once again lead the
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo parade past thousands of cheering spectators
in downtown Houston.
Runners and walkers will experience Houston’s only point-to-point 10K race and 5K fun run/walk in a festive atmosphere that
celebrates Houston
’s heritage.
relay for life, march 27-28
Relay For Life, a benefit walk and the largest fund raising event for the
American Cancer Society, is set for 7 p.m. on March 27 and will end at 7 a.m.
on March 28.
The relay brings together the community to celebrate the life of cancer
survivors, to remember those lost and to raise money for research. It is an
overnight experience that you will never forget.
Teams of eight-15 participants seek contributions prior to the relay. At the
event, they gather with tents and sleeping bags to camp out at the VFW Park in
Katy and take turns walking around the track. Each team has a representative on
the track throughout the night, as a reminder that cancer never sleeps.
Houston antiques dealers association spring show, Feb. 13-15
For one weekend only, shopping enthusiasts and antiques aficionados will be able
to peruse antiques from the 1750s through Art Deco and Mid-Century Modernism
when more than 150 of the world
’s finest dealers offer the rare, unusual, precious and the bizarre at the
Houston Antiques Dealers Association Spring Show set for Feb. 13-15 at the
George R. Brown Convention Center, Hall B.

The Art and Science of Love Workshop, Feb. 21-22
The Art and Science of Love Workshop, created by Dr. John Gottman, will be held on Feb. 21-22 at the Student Center
on the campus of Rice University.
Gottman draws from three decades of groundbreaking research that includes the
study of more than 3,000 couples to learn what really makes relationships work.
Dr. Gottman is world renowned for his work on marital stability and divorce
prediction, involving the study of emotions, physiology and communication.

cameron carpenter performs at chapelwood united methodist church, feb. 22
Cameron Carpenter, one of the reigning organ virtuosos performers in the world
today, will make his Houston debut on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary at
Chapelwood United Methodist Church. His first album,
Revolutionary, was released in September. His renditions of mesmerizing pedal roulades and
transcriptions of all genres of music will appeal to a vast audience of all
ages.

4th annual spring thing market
Chapelwood United Methodist Women’s 46th Annual Spring Thing Market will take place March 4 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and
March 5 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay
Drive.
Spring Thing is eagerly anticipated as one of Houston’s favorite Spring Markets, featuring more than 80 unique vendors. The market not
only provides an exceptional and diverse shopping experience, but also raises
funds for global and local missions benefiting women and children. The vast
offerings available to shoppers include jewelry, art, clothing, hand crafted
gift items, home accessories, Easter specialties, stationery, crafts, food

the 2009 Rodeo Houston.
Entertainers who are scheduled to perform include: Rascal Flatts, March 3; Alan
Jackson, March 4; Jonas Brothers, March 8; Reba McEntire, March 11; Brad
Paisley, March 12; Gary Allan, March 18; and Taylor Swift, March 20.
All three Wednesdays (March 4, 11 and 18) during the 2009 show will be
