Superstars Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra never performed together on the same stage, but you can experience the illusion
of
“what might have been” at a special cabaret-style event on March 4 titled “Barbra & Frank…The Concert that Never Was.” This tribute-style evening, presented by The Partnership for Baylor College of
Medicine, was the inspiration of co-chairs
Sidney Faust and Don Faust and Cora Sue and Harry Mach. All funds benefit collaborative research on heart disease taking place at BCM
and will be matched by the Smith Foundation. There
’s still time to get in on this fun night by calling 713-798-5460.

The underwriting chairs of the March 6 “Do You Believe in Magic?” gala for the Houston Museum of Natural Science are really getting into the
theme. They have dubbed themselves
Jim “Copperfield” Flores, Bill “Merlin” Montgomery, Jim “Dumbledore” Looke, Tom “Houdini” Smith, etc. Co-chairs Melinda and Sam Stubbs and Paula and Rusty Walter are waving their magic wands, conjuring up seers, soothsayers, psychics and
wizards for the gala, based on an exhibition that HMNS will be featuring at the
time. The magic show is sure to add to the popularity of the museum, which
already attracts nearly 500,000 school children each year!
The River Oaks Theater will be packed with fashionistas on March 10, strutting
for a cause that
’s close to their hearts. Heart Guild members will model spring fashions from
stores in the River Oaks Shopping Center, and 100 percent of the proceeds will
go to the American Heart Association. Tickets are just $30 and include
cocktails, lite bites and valet parking. Call 713-610-5055 for details.
