Warner Roberts raised funds to build the first dormitory at The Mission of Yahweh, a non-denominational shelter for women and girls founded by Sister Helen Gay. Twelve-year-old Camp For All attendee Elliott Lapin enjoys the CampFest gala with honoree Carlos Rivera.  Lapin spoke about how his camping experience made him feel like a regular kid.

(12) Afghan Hands
Sex and the City star Jason Lewis joins (l-r) Rania Daniel, Sabiha Rehmatullah and Sima Ladjevardian at the Museum of Fine Arts. Embroidered shawls, scarves and throws made by Afghan Hands will be on sale at the MFA through May 17.

(13) Walk for the Mind
A kickoff for the May 2 NAMIWalks drew 130 guests in support of the National Alliance on Mental Illness goal of raising $200,000. NAMI president Susan Denyes-Moody is pictured with the Honorable Jan Krocker.

(14) Olympic Champ
Olympic ice skating champion Peggy Fleming shows off her skates to Kazuhiko Fujii of Houston-based Kaneka Nutrients. Fleming, who lost her father and sister to heart disease, is speaking nationally about the importance of heart health.

A Mary Poppins-themed luncheon drew 350 guests and raised $180,000 for Childbuilders educational programs. Co-chair Philamena Baird with featured speaker, humorist Louise Parsley.

Carrie Carson and Courtney Chapoton enjoy keynote speaker Katherine Center’s witty observations at the 2009 Parents & Families Luncheon for The Children’s Museum of Houston.
