Carefully selected lighting gives the dining room a mysterious quality. The architect designed vitrines to showcase Cara ’s collection of Steuben glass. Table by Roche Bobois; chairs from Sunset Settings. The painting is by Mexican artist Rafael Coronel. ˚ Clients can access Cara’s studio (on right) through a separate entrance without having to go through the house. But the studio is also connected by guest quarters that lie along the north side of the site, creating a U-shaped dwelling. Examples of Cara ’s work, wonderfully organic in nature, line the wall of her studio. ˚ Horizontal windows above
cabinets provide natural sunlight to this spacious kitchen. Long, narrow island in center of kitchen gives owner plenty of work space.
˚ A pair of Bertoia bird chairs provides seating on an interior balcony leading to Jorge ’s study. The
balcony has a perfect view of the treetops in Memorial Park.

Expansive walls that accommodate large pieces of art combine
with wide-open spaces for an airy, uncluttered feel.
