second seating exhibit
Houston artist Mary Margaret Hansen’s Second Seating exhibition will run through Nov. 1 at 22 North Chenevert, in gallery space
immediately adjacent to Irma
’s Restaurant.
Second Seating is a unique visual arts destination featuring elegant
dinner tables set under fanciful chandeliers created from recycled packaging and
products manufactured in Houston
’s East End, the city’s industrial heart and historic core. Coffee cans, Clorox bottles, oil pipeline
parts and beer cans are mixed seamlessly with reclaimed trash and vintage
objects found in the community or reclaimed after Hurricane Ike.
Artists collaborating with Hansen are Jesse Sifuentes, Mercedes Fernandez,
Teodoro Estrada, Jose Solis and Agnes Welch Eyster.
Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on

BEGINNING NOV 12 - houston ballet nutcracker market
The Houston Ballet 2009 Nutcracker Market will be held on Nov. 12-15 at Reliant
Center. More than 315 vendors from across the country participate in this 29th
annual holiday shopping extravaganza offering unique gift items for the entire
family, including home d
écor, gourmet food, garden, clothing, toys, candles, sporting gifts, novelties,
accessories and more.
Hours on Thursday and Friday are 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 10
a.m.-6 p.m. A one-day pass is $11 or $10 at Houston-area Randalls beginning
Oct. 26. Half-price admission is available daily three hours prior to closing.
Children under 6 are free. A four-day pass: is $35.
Special events include a Wells Fargo Preview Party on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 7
p.m.-10:30 p.m. Tickets start at $150; Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Show and
Luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tickets start at $130; Macy

with Exacto knives and hole punches.



lpga tour championship, nov. 17-22
The 2009 LPGA Tour Championship will be held Nov. 17-22 at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club. The event will feature a field of 120 of the top LPGA
professionals in the world, a $1.5 million purse and a unique format that will
see a cut after 36 holes to the low 70 professionals and an additional cut
after 54 holes to the low 30 pros.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.lpgatourchampionship.org or by phone at 877-LPGA-TIX. The cost for daily tickets, which allow grounds
access for any one day of tournament week (Wednesday-Sunday) is $20. Daily
parking passes are also available for $5 each. Weekly grounds passes are $60
and allow access to the tournament grounds for the entire week. All weekly
ticket purchases also include one complimentary weekly parking pass. Volunteers
are also needed at the event to help in a variety of ways including player
transportation, working the main scoreboard and assisting the media with
gathering stats. The volunteer package is priced at $55. To complete an

The LPGA Tour Championship will be broadcast on the Golf Channel from
Nov.19-22.
theta charity antiques
show, nov. 19-22
The 57th Annual Theta Charity Antiques Show will be held Nov. 19-22 at the
George R. Brown Convention Center.
For four days, shopping enthusiasts and antiques aficionados will be able to
peruse the best of antiques from fine art to furniture featuring over 50
premier antiques dealers from around the world.
Special events include a preview party on Wednesday from 7 p.m.-10 p.m.; Linda
Scherbert, features editor at
Veranda Magazine, will be the forum speaker on Thursday at 10 a.m.; HighTea will be served on
Thursday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. in the Antique Show Tea Room to honor past Theta
Antique Show chairs and past Theta Alumnae presidents; Lori Williams, Colonial
Williamsburg Foundation will discuss
“Christmas at Williamsburg” on Friday at 10 a.m.; Appraisal Day will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3
p.m.; and
“Antiques and the Modern Table” display by Interior Designer will be held Thursday-Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-7
p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
